In between seasons, when most would expect it to be a little slower around the chamber office, things really get busier than you would think! One of the things we do at this time is attend several travel shows promoting Rexburg and the whole valley. This is made possible by a grant from the state. This year we have traveled to Reno, Salt Lake City twice, and Phoenix for travel and recreation shows. Knowing that millions of travelers head for Yellowstone National Park every summer, we let them know how many attractions and great things there are to do and see between Idaho Falls and West Yellowstone.
- We have welcomed several new businesses to Rexburg over the last several months including Twizlberry, Marriott Spring Hill Suites, Demarle At Home, Tami's Salon, and others along with several planned for this month. Join us for:Picketts Bambino, 115 S. 2nd West, Friday May 1411:15;Expedition Firearms, 859 S. Yellowstone Hwy., Saturday, May 15, 11:30; Rooter-Man/Parker Septic Tank Service, Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce Office, Thursday, May 20, 11:30.
-Presented the Farmer Merchant Community Banquet last month which was a great event enjoyed by all. It is always an honor to present a dozen winners from our community who have been recognized by their peers for doing an outstanding job and going above and beyond in serving their community.
-Interviews and hiring for new semester for interns. You will notice quite a few new voices when calling in.Please welcome Jeanine Farmer, Tawny Tanner, Steven Holt, Justin Farmer, and our new IT Manager, Mike Squire.
-Planning meetings are taking place for Concerts in Smith Park, Whoopee Days, Business Expo 2010, and the Idaho International Dance and Music Festival. Look for a new event to be announced next month in the June Newsletter! This summer will be one that will be filled with excitement and things to do. Get ready!
-Speaking of interviews and hiring, we are saying "Good bye" to Sarah this month. We are so sad to see her go. But, Sarah is excited to go because she has a new home, has moved to Idaho Falls, and will be having a baby in July! She has been a wonderful addition to our office and will be missed and we thank her for the great job she has done and for her sweet personality. Please stop by to say good bye anytime this month and welcome Wendy Walker! Wendy will be training this month and will take over the reins at the end of the month.
-The Chamber has another new addition this month and that is our new Membership Director. Bob Jones, Past Chamber President, has agreed to help us bring in new members. Rexburg is home to over 1,000 businesses. Bob will be stopping by to offer chamber help. Please welcome Bob.
There is something about Spring and the great time it is to renew your positive attitude! Choose attitude every morning! When you wake up, you have a choice - a cruddy day or a great day! Choose a "great day" from the start. It helps!
May business be good! See you around town!
