Donna's Letter

YOUR CHAMBER HAS BEEN BUSY………

Welcome to our first online edition of the Chamber Newsletter.  We are excited to bring this publication to you at your home, office or even on-the-road!  We are hopeful it will be just as easy or easier for you to access as it was before.

As I look back on 2009 I hope that you feel as we do at the chamber, there have been more opportunities this year than ever, to get involved and see the successes that can come from belonging to this organization.

We are very happy with our first Business Expo held in October.  We are already making plans for next year’s Expo and hope that you will consider attending or even having a booth.  Those vendors who participated this year felt it was very worthwhile and something that has been needed for a long time.  Many business connections were made that day and that is what the purpose was.   I don’t believe there is anything more valuable than those member-to-member contacts and new contacts.

You may have noticed many new events or reinvented events this last quarter.

The chamber realizes the importance of staying up-to-date and tuned-in to the current trends and economics.  Such thinking has caused us to reevaluate our annual fundraiser – the Farmer Merchant Banquet.  Hence, new name and new date.  We truly want to include our entire community so have renamed it the annual Farmer Merchant Community Banquet.  You will notice what we think is a better time of year and a few new awards.  Please mark your calendars for Thursday, March 11, 2010.

If you have not ever traveled with the chamber to the Idaho Chamber Alliance’s – Business Day at the Legislature, please consider making the trip at the end of this month.  It is a wonderful opportunity to join not only with other Rexburg businesses, but businesses throughout the state, in a joint and concentrated effort to visit with local and statewide legislators regarding small business.  Visiting with Governor Otter and his Cabinet, touring the Capital, as well as several sessions with state officials makes this 1 ½  day trip one of the highlights of the chamber year.  Please call the office if you are interested in attending

Jan. 31-Feb. 2, 2010.

The chamber would like to acknowledge all of the wonderful events sponsored by so many great organizations this last year.  We are always so impressed by the willingness of our community to support each of these.  Thank you to service clubs and organizations as well the City and many non-profit organizations for what you do for our community.  Thousands of hours are offered by hundreds of volunteers throughout our community and we thank you.

We look forward to 2010 being a fantastic year!

May business be good………………Donna
