Donnell Hunter
Was
born in Rigby, Idaho,
attended schools in Idaho and Washington, graduating from RigbyHigh School.
He
attended RicksCollege, graduating in 1954 with a BA in
Mathematics and Biological Sciences.
Subsequently
he obtained graduate degrees from UtahStateUniversity
(MS in English 1960) and University
of Montana (MFA in 1981.)
He
was Assistant Librarian at RicksCollege 1955-59 and
taught in the English Department 1960 to 1993 except for 1964-66 when he was
Assistant Professor of English at Church College of Hawaii.In 1988-1989 he was a visiting professor in
creative writing at BrighamYoungUniversity.
He
married Nita Kearsley.They are parents
of eight children, grandparents of thirty-one and great-grandparents of
twenty-seven.
He
retired from Ricks in 1993 to preside over the Mexico Veracruz Mission.He and Nita were Area Welfare Agents in
Central America from 1988-2000 and presided over the SantiagoChileTemple from 2001-2004.
