Artist of the Month
Each month the Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce will be featuring a guest artist from the Upper Valley Art Guild.Please stop by to view some of the beautiful artwork on display in our conference room. This month the artist of the month is Donnell Hunter


Donnell Hunter

 

Was born in Rigby, Idaho, attended schools in Idaho and Washington, graduating from Rigby High School.

 

He attended Ricks College, graduating in 1954 with a BA in Mathematics and Biological Sciences.

 

Subsequently he obtained graduate degrees from Utah State University (MS in English 1960) and University of Montana (MFA in 1981.)

 

He was Assistant Librarian at Ricks College 1955-59 and taught in the English Department 1960 to 1993 except for 1964-66 when he was Assistant Professor of English at Church College of Hawaii.  In 1988-1989 he was a visiting professor in creative writing at Brigham Young University.

 

He married Nita Kearsley.  They are parents of eight children, grandparents of thirty-one and great-grandparents of twenty-seven.

 

He retired from Ricks in 1993 to preside over the Mexico Veracruz Mission.  He and Nita were Area Welfare Agents in Central America from 1988-2000 and presided over the Santiago Chile Temple from 2001-2004.

 

They now live in LaBelle, Idaho.
